Karissa began her career as an indigent criminal defense attorney in the Central Valley. She then moved to the Central Coast, where she worked as a judicial research attorney for the Monterey County Superior Court before transitioning to an appellate practice.
Karissa is a uniquely well-rounded attorney who draws upon her varied background to effectively represent her family law clients. She holistically understands the legal process from the outset of a case through appeal. She also appreciates the court's administrative complexities and considers the everyday demands of the judges she must appear before.
Karissa entered the field of family law after becoming a stepmother and witnessing the challenges that arise following a divorce. With two more little ones at home, she and her husband enjoy the gifts of their blended family when not hard at work.
Among other interests, Karissa enjoys taking her kids to the beach, volunteering at a local non-profit that supports women, and escaping into a good mystery novel.
